The Apollo theater, feeling invisible, and letting your light shine

A few months ago I started podcasting. I created The Path to Purpose for two reasons.

  1. I like talking to people about their dreams and what it has (or is) taken them to live that life.
  2. One of my favorite things to do is encourage others in their ventures or art. If I can give them a platform to shine in any kind of way I am all about it.

When I talk to the people on my show, I hope that they are able to share their message and reach someone that I wouldn't be able to. I often say that there are a lot of unrealized dreams out there on the basketball court. Dreams that could cure disease, create beautiful structures, or build organizations that change the course of history.

I was thinking the other day that some of the biggest acts passed through the legendary Apollo theater. They got their start there. That might have even been their first time performing publicly. I like to think that my show is like that too.

Coming from someone that feels invisible most of the time, I like to give other people an opportunity to get their name out there when no one else would give them a second look.

The enthusiasm that they have for their dream is contagious and sparks more creativity in me so it's a win-win. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to talk to some wonderful humans already and I look forward to the upcoming episodes.
